School executives will ensure that the school is a professional learning community. School executives will ensure that processes and systems are in place which result in recruitment, induction, support, evaluation, development, and retention of high performing staff. The school executive must engage and empower accomplished teachers in a distributive manner, including support of teachers in day-to-day decisions such as discipline, communication with parents/guardians, and protecting teachers from duties that interfere with teaching, and must practice fair and consistent evaluations of teachers. The school executive must engage teachers and other professional staff in conversations to plan their career paths and support district succession planning.

In collaboration with the school psychologist and using the school improvement plan, we created the professional development plan for Northern Nash High School. I also contacted our's district PD contact to assist me with completing the PD plan as well. Further, I reached out to our district level academic coaches for literacy and behavior support to discuss what PD can be offered based on the needs of our teachers.

The document on the left is a blank copy of the type interview form and questions used in my district. The administration team and one or two staff members from the vacant position's department make up the interview team. We are required to interview at least 3 candidates and check at least 3 references before a candidate can be offered the position. This year I have participated in three interview rounds for an English teacher, CTE teacher (Family and Consumer Science) and a Math teacher. Also, I called all the references for the English and CTE positions.

I am on the regular rotation for teacher evaluations along with the other administrators and have completed observations in NCEES. I send teachers pre-conference questions to prepare them for our pre-conference meeting as well as questions for the post conference meeting to help guide our discussion.
Additionally, I have completed a few walk-throughs in order to gain experience and become comfortable with this strategy in order to promote best instructional practices by providing relevant feedback.
